How is fiberglass rebar produced?

2021-04-27

Pultruded rebar is produced through the following process: (generally) the fiber strand is "pulled through the resin to wet the fibers, shaped to set the composite material's form and remove excess resin, and then cured through a heated steel die" [4]. The GFRP is then cut to a specific length.

A fiber strand is a group of filaments gathered together without twisting. The fiber bundles used in FRP reinforcement typically contain 60,000 filaments per strand. The industry refers to carbon fiber as "tow" and glass, aramid, and basalt fibers as strands.
