On the morning of March 11, 2021, the China Highway Society organized an evaluation meeting for the project "Research and Application of Key Technologies for Fire and Corrosion Protection of Bridge Load-Bearing Cables." This project was jointly undertaken by eight units: Guangzhou Pearl River Huangpu Bridge Construction Co., Ltd., Tongji University, Jiangsu Tianlong Basalt Continuous Fiber Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Zhongkuang Dazheng Surface Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., Guangdong Highway Construction Co., Ltd., Shanghai Pujiang Cable Co., Ltd., CCCC Highway Consultants Co., Ltd., and Yangzhou University.
The meeting's evaluation committee consisted of seven experts: Hou Jinlong, former vice president of China Communications Construction Co., Ltd.; Yu Zhiwu, professor and director of the National Engineering Laboratory for High-Speed Railway Construction Technology at Central South University; Zhong Jianchi, former deputy inspector of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Transportation; Huang Chengzao, chief engineer of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Transportation; Su Cheng, assistant to the president of South China University of Technology; Liang Linong, chief engineer of Guangdong Transportation Planning and Design Institute Co., Ltd.; and Zhang Shengli, researcher at the Zhoushan Bridge Construction Management Center.
The expert group unanimously agreed that the project's research results have reached an international leading level. The China Highway Society Basalt Fiber Highway Industry Collaborative Innovation Community initiated and fully supported this project. It addressed common industry issues and development needs by integrating optimal resources for joint research efforts. After two years of technical research, the results have been successfully applied to projects such as the Pearl River Huangpu Bridge, showing significant economic and social benefits and promising prospects for broader application.
